The railway infrastructure owner, METROLINX, has informed VIA Rail of upcoming work on the tracks on which we operate as part of their infrastructure maintenance program. Due to this program, which will be taking place in the coming months and rendering the Guelph subdivision inaccessible on select dates, the operations of trains 84 and 87 will be modified on November 2nd and 3rd, 2024.

Although the work on the tracks is outside of VIA Rail’s control, please rest assured that we have worked tirelessly at measuring all available options to mitigate and minimize any inconvenience on our passengers.

The following modifications will be implemented on November 2nd and 3rd. Please ensure to carefully consult the tables below for details on your reservation:

Service modifications

Passengers who were travelling on train 87 from Toronto to London

Passengers who were travelling on train 87 to any destination other than London

  • Passengers will be accommodated on a bus.
  • Business class passengers will receive a partial refund, as business class service will not be offered on the bus.
  • Present yourself to the VIA Rail station with your train ticket before departure.
  • These buses will stop at all VIA Rail train stations along the route.
  • The original schedule will be respected as much as possible.
  • In an effort to improve the on-time performance of the buses, they will not stop in Malton, ON.
  • The sale of snacks and beverages will not be available during the trip. Passengers will be provided with a light complimentary snack and a bottle of water. We suggest that passengers plan accordingly.
  • Travel credits will not be offered on this occasion for delays or alternate transportation.

Passengers who were travelling on train 84 from London to Toronto

  • Passengers are transferred to train 72 departing London at 10:41 and arriving in Toronto at 13:05. Click here to view the schedule.
  • New boarding passes will be sent by email.

Passengers who were travelling on train 84 boarding any station other than London

  • Passengers will be accommodated on a bus.
  • Business class passengers will receive a partial refund, as business class service will not be offered on the bus.
  • Present yourself to the station with your train ticket before departure.
  • These buses will stop at all VIA Rail train stations along the route.
  • The original schedule will be respected as much as possible.

Missed connections

The connection from train 84 to train 44 is cancelled
